The Croghan Free Library has unveiled its 2024 Annual Report, a testament to another remarkable year of growth and community engagement. Under the leadership of Eileen Mathys, her staff of Aleta Zehr, and several dedicated volunteers, the library remains a beacon of learning, connection, and enrichment—a place where stories come to life, knowledge is shared, and the love of reading flourishes.
Over the past year, the library welcomed an astounding 8,373 visitors. With 1,029 library cardholders actively using its services, the library’s collection has continued to expand, adding 1,020 new titles, ensuring that there is always something fresh for every reader. Patrons checked out an incredible 22,820 items, while another 3,168 were borrowed through interlibrary loan services, reinforcing the power of collaboration among libraries. Today, the library proudly houses 13,254 items, a rich and ever-growing collection that fuels curiosity and learning.
But the Croghan Free Library is far more than a repository of books—it is the heart of community engagement. In 2024, it hosted 35 children’s programs, drawing 832 young readers eager for story times, hands-on activities, and creative exploration. Meanwhile, 39 adult programs enriched the lives of 288 attendees, offering experiences such as writing workshops, book clubs, and educational talks. The digital world also thrived, with 2,082 downloads, ensuring that literature and learning reached far beyond the library’s walls. Whether through donations, volunteering, or simply using its many resources, your support ensures the Croghan Free Library thrives for generations to come.
